We are currently using the ATLAS eMAR system, which includes a customizable clinical note template and an option to incorporate PainChek for pain assessment. However, we noticed that while the PainChek tool gives a score ranging from 0–42, there is no functionality within ATLAS to record or integrate this score directly into the system.
When I contacted ATLAS for guidance, I was directed to look up PainChek independently. After researching the tool and watching an informative video, I reached out to PainChek directly. They informed me that an account is required to access the application. Today, when I contacted ATLAS again for clarification, I was informed that PainChek is a third-party tool and not directly affiliated with ATLAS.
Currently, for residents who can self-report pain, we are using the Thermometer Scale. For residents who cannot communicate effectively or have dementia, we rely on the Abbey Pain Scale. However, I see great potential in integrating PainChek into our workflow, especially for non-communicative residents.
Hi Maya,
Thank you for your comments.
The existing functionality within Atlas is specifically designed to allow users of PainChek to open the application directly from within Atlas, obtain the score, and record it within the Medication Plan.
If you wish to record a score obtained through other methods, we recommend creating a Medication Plan template. This will allow you to set your own parameters and apply this template to any medication as appropriate, without needing to re-enter the details each time. For assistance with creating a Medication Plan, please refer to our user guides available on the Atlas Central platform, or contact our Support Team, who will be happy to assist with any questions you may have.
Kind Regards
The Atlas Product Team
